Labour Commissioner Organisation was established in 1936. Along with executive functions through its administrative set up, following wings are also established in the Organisation to enforce various labour laws and timely intervention in industrial disputes:

Directorate of Boilers

The priorities of the Labour Commissioner Organisation, in view of present set of labour laws, are as under :-

To establish harmonious industrial relations

To ensure fixation of minimum wages and timely payment thereof to the workmen.

To provide safe and healthy work environment to the workers

To regulate service conditions of the workmen

To provide social security to the injured workmen and maternity benefit to the women workers.

To ensure abolition of child labour and rehabilitation of those released from work.

In compliance of directions given by the Hon'ble Supreme Court the preference has been given to rehabilitation of child labourers identified during survey/inspections and at the same time legal action has also been initiated against the offending employers of child labourers identified in hazardous industries.
